In contrast to the incredible group that gives its name to the acclaimed anime Seven Deadly Sins, the Seven Deadly Sins, another iconic and dangerous team, continues to represent a threat to the heroes: the Ten Commandments.
A group of elite Demon Clan warriors personally chosen by the Demon King, the Ten Commandments already have a lot of history, including members whose identity has surprised many fans (yes, we’re talking about the Meliodas!).
The information below contains spoilers for Seven Deadly Sins!
10 Commandments of Seven Deadly Sins
The King of Demons gave a command to each of the ten warriors with whom he shared his powers. They are Piety, Love, Patience, Retention, Purity, Rest, Pacifism, Faith, Altruism, and Truth.
The group had two main formations, with part of the first formation remaining in the second. The Holy War against the Clan of the Goddesses marked the main changes in the team, with the death of part of its members.
The commandment of Purity -Derieri
Once a more open and talkative woman, Derieri shut herself up after her sister – and many prisoners of war – were massacred by the Clan of the Goddesses, who broke a treaty by committing such an act during the Holy War.
It was attached to the other Ten Commandments in the Coffin of Eternal Darkness during this period. After being released centuries later, she ended up getting close to the humans and developing a particular affection for them, which conflicts with her old convictions and loyalty to the Clan of Demons.
The first demon to reveal the power to devour the souls of other races, it can also use the dark power of darkness to conjure wings. However, her power as a bearer of the Purity Commandment is unknown.
Powers:
Combo Star: Through this ability, each blow gains an additional 200,000 pounds of strength as long as it keeps attacking without interruption.
Indura Transformation: Ability to transform into the beast of Indura destruction, with untold powers and strengths. To do so, it sacrifices 6 of its seven hearts, losing its original form and reasoning.

The Commandment of Reticence – Monspiet
With the abilities of his commandment still undisclosed, Monspiet is something of a knight and, as such, follows a code of education that makes him hate rude and disrespectful people.
Very close to Derieri, acts as an assistant, attending to your needs. I was at his side during the Holy War and the death of Derieri’s sister. Like his teammate, he sacrificed six of his seven hearts to perform the Indura Transformation to defeat the Clan of Gods but was stopped by Elizabeth.
Centuries later, already free, he follows Deriere’s side, to whom he never managed to reveal his feelings, and ends up dying to save her from Estarossa’s attack (we’ve already talked about him!).
Powers:
Trick Star: Allows him to swap two objects or bodies with each other, including himself.

Galand commandment of truth
Any opponent who tells a lie to Galand will have his body petrified due to the skill of the warrior’s command. Sadistic, he loves battles and gets out of prison in the commandments held after the Holy War, eager to find his new enemies and start the fight.
He was at the side of Derieri, Monspiet, Melascula, and Fraudin in the massacre of the Holy War. Use weapons like the great halberd spear, with which you can make different blows. His command also prevents him from lying

The commandment of Faith – Melascula
As a bearer of the commandment of faith, she can burn the eyes of anyone who loses faith in something or someone in her presence.
She presents herself as a young woman with pink hair, innocent looking. Its original form, however, is that of a short, thin snake. After 300 years immersed in the miasma of the Demon Realm, however, she transforms into a giant snake.
Arrogant, apathetic, and sarcastic, he shows contempt for humans and even “outsources” the work of getting human souls to lesser demons to regain their powers after being released from prison.

Hell Gate: Ability to create portals for different purposes, such as traveling, communicating or summoning other demons.

The commandment of Selflessness -Gowther
Part of the current formation (2nd) of the Ten Commandments, Fraudin was the replacement for the true commandment of Altruism, Gowther, who escaped from the prison he was in and abandoned his post in the Demon King’s army.
A natural manipulator, Fraudin likes to play with other people’s emotions. Extremely calculating, he waited for years to put into practice his plan of revenge against the betrayal of the group’s first leader, which led to the defeat of the Holy War in the Ten Commandments.
Sealed separately from the other Commandments, after the conflict with the Clan of Goddesses, he was accidentally released. Then, with Hendrickson’s help, he managed to free his teammates.
For the past ten years, he has occupied the body of the human Dreyfus, formerly the Great Holy Knight of Liones, and ended up clinging to his life as a human and to those close to him. After his death, he leaves his Full-Size ability with Dreyfus, so he can protect his son.

Full Size: Ability to increase your body size to gigantic proportions.

The commandment of Piety -Zeldris
Replacing Calmadios (we’ll talk about him a little further below), killed by Meliodas in the Holy War, Zeldris is the younger brother of Meliodas and also the son of the Demon King. In the new formation, he followed in his older brother’s footsteps. He became the leader of the Ten Commandments, possessing the same powers once acquired by Calmadios as a bearer of the Commandment of Mercy.
Having fallen in love with the vampire Gelda, he did not follow the order to execute the Clan of Vampires, just imprisoning them. At the end of the Holy War, he was arrested by the Clan of the Goddesses and other members of the clan of demons and the Ten Commandments.
So far, he’s the only one able to remove the power of another commandment, freeing team members from their assigned skills.

- Hellblaze: ability to produce black flames and to nullify the regeneration of an immortal
- Dies Irae: the creation of a portal over the opponent, from which lightning can be emitted

The commandment of Love – Estarossa
Originally one of the Four Archangels of the Clan of Goddesses, Mael was transformed during the Holy War. Responsible for the transformation, Gowther, one of the Ten Commandments of the 1st formation (we’ll talk about him already!) modified the archangel’s memories, giving him the new identity of Estarossa, member of the Ten Commandments and second son of the Demon King.
New bearer of the Commandment of Love, after Meliodas’ betrayal (we’ll explain this to you in a moment), Estarossa has a sadistic and cold side and, as Monspiet explains, he seems to have had his mind and soul slowly devoured by his command. , leaving him unstable and thirsty for power.
To get all the commandments for himself, he kills Monspiet and Galant, obtaining the commandments of Retention and Truth, respectively.

The commandment of Patience -Drole
Also known as Balor (only to humans), Drole is a giant. Honoring his nature never to run away from the battle, however, he joins the Ten Commandments in Team 2nd formation and becomes a demon after losing a fight to Zeldris. Its powers as a commandment are unknown.
After the Holy War, he was also imprisoned by the Clan of the Goddesses in the Coffin of Eternal Darkness. Once released, he realizes that Diane’s love (giant and member of the Seven Deadly Sins) surpasses the combat power and pride of the giants.
For this reason, he assumes the mistakes he made while he ruled the Clan of Giants, becomes its protector, and appoints her as the new Queen of the Giants.

- Ground: Through a deep connection with the earth, it allows you to manipulate minerals and gradually increase your power and your connection and control of nature

The commandment of Repose -Gloxinia
With the powers of her command still unknown, Gloxinia left her post as king of the Forest of Fairies after being betrayed by those she trusted and losing her sister Gerheade in the Holy War.
He then joins the Ten Commandments team and assumes sadistic behavior, demonstrating pleasure in killing and insulting. At some point in the manga and anime, however, he reverts to his old, affectionate, and outgoing personality and promises to fight Zeldris.

The commandment of Pacifism -Grayroad
In the presence of the bearer of this commandment, he who kills someone will have his life span stolen, aging to death. Extremely powerful, this demon also can create new demons through demonic plants that he implants in creatures without magic.
He assumed his post in the Ten Commandments after Meliodas’ betrayal and the deaths caused by the former leader. After the Holy War, he was arrested by the Clan of the Goddesses with the other members of the Clan of Demons.

The Commandment of Love -Meliodas
As the bearer of the Commandment of Love, Meliodas automatically incapacitated any opponent who felt hatred in his presence. After betraying the group, he became the leader of the Seven Deadly Sins, with the title Sin of the Wrath of the Dragon.
From the clan of demons, Meliodas is over 3,000 years old and, although quite small, has great strength and power whose origin is later revealed: Meliodas is the eldest son of the dreaded Demon King.
Powers:
- Hellblaze: demonic power to create flames and control devastating black flames capable of nullifying regenerative abilities.
- Full Counter: reflective power capable of “returning” blows launched by the opponent.

The commandment of Mercy -Calmadios
As the bearer of the Commandment of Mercy, Calmadios condemned those who challenge him to a life of submission and obedience as punishment for the act of defiance, seen as a betrayal of the Demon King himself.
Physically, Calmadios is characterized by his large size, muscular body, six arms and a horned mask that he wears on his face. He seemed to recognize Meliodas as his father’s successor, King Demon, addressing him as Lord Meliodas. Meliodas killed him during the Holy War.
