The Acolyte, the new Star Wars series, introduces many new characters. Set during an era never before depicted on screen—the High Republic, a century before the Skywalker Saga—showrunner Leslye Headland had to create numerous heroes and villains to shape this fresh story.
The High Republic was a golden age for the Jedi Order. The Light Side warriors were at their peak, adorned in golden attire and white capes, serving as the guardians of peace in the Republic.
In just the first two episodes of The Acolyte, ten previously unseen Jedi characters have already made their debut and been added to the Star Wars canon.
New Jedi in The Acolyte
Master Indara
The first Jedi to appear in The Acolyte is Master Indara, portrayed by Carrie Anne-Moss. At the start of the series, she engages in a deadly duel with the assassin Mae. She showcases her impressive combat skills during the fight, utilizing Force-fu techniques.
Sun Master
Master Sun is currently the most prominent Jedi in The Acolyte. Played by Lee Jung-Jae, he finds himself targeted by Mae and even faces off against her in the second episode. He is the master who rescued Osha and took her on as his padawan. Master Sun is very solemn and reflective, yet he possesses spectacular hand-to-hand combat skills.
Yord Fandar
Yord, played by Charlie Barnett in The Acolyte, is a Jedi Knight who leads the initial search and capture mission for Osha. When they were both Padawans, Yord, and Osha shared a close friendship. While Osha eventually left the Order, Yord remained, steadily rising through the ranks to become a master one day.
Jecki Lon
Spanish actress Dafne Keen plays Jecki, a human-Theelin hybrid and the current Padawan of Master Sun in The Acolyte. So far in the series, Jecki has demonstrated a very rational and calm demeanor. However, Dafne Keen has repeatedly mentioned that her character is also highly skilled with a lightsaber when the situation calls for it.
Osha Aniseya
Osha, played by Amanda Stenberg, is the main protagonist of **The Acolyte**, alongside her twin sister Mae, the assassin. As a child, Osha experienced a life-altering tragedy. Master Sun took her in as his apprentice and brought her to the Jedi Order for training. However, Osha eventually decided to abandon her training and is now completely closed off to the Force, similar to Obi-Wan Kenobi in his own series.
Tasi Lowa
During Osha’s arrest, Yord is accompanied by his padawan, Tasi Lowa. This young woman is of the Zygerrian race, a species first introduced in *The Clone Wars* and depicted as ruthless slave imperialists.
However, Tasi has distanced herself from this dark history and is now a member of the Jedi Order. She is a direct and effective counterpoint to Yord’s doubts, showcasing her dedication and clarity.
Master Torbin
Master Torbin, who appears in the second episode, is another of Mae’s targets. This seasoned Jedi has taken the Barash Vow, committing himself to a deep meditation and complete immersion in the Force in pursuit of peace.
Consequently, when the assassin attempts to strike him, she is thwarted by an impenetrable field of pure Force, making him untouchable.
Master of the Olega Temple
Although Torbin resides in the Olega Jedi Temple, his disconnection from worldly affairs means that another master oversees the temple’s activities. This master’s name is not specified, but he is the one who welcomes the expedition led by Master Sol when they arrive to investigate.
Padawan of the Olega Temple
That unknown master also has a padawan whose name is not revealed at any point in the episode. Like the previous one, he also assists Sol, Yord, Jecki, and Osha in the search for Mae in Olega.
Master Kelnacca
The last Jedi to appear in the first two episodes of The Acolyte is Kelnacca. This Wookiee lives apart from the world on Khofar, where he has imposed splendid self-imposed isolation for unknown reasons. He is the third target on Mae’s list, so presumably, he will come into action soon.
