The Dan Da Dan anime has been a huge success since its debut on Crunchyroll and Netflix, and the impact of the adaptation has gone beyond streaming platforms. The manga’s sales have doubled, reaching 8 million units sold in the past three months.
Before the anime aired, Yukinobu Tatsu’s manga had sold around 4 million units, but the adaptation by Science SARU studio was pivotal in this impressive sales spike.
There was also a noticeable increase in Dan Da Dan’s readership on the Manga Plus app. Prior to the anime’s release, each chapter averaged 300,000 views. However, between October and December, that number surged to between 350,000 and 400,000 views per chapter.
The manga continues to perform well on the app, consistently appearing among the top five most-read stories on the platform. Here are the top five most-read manga on Manga Plus as of January:

- Dan Da Dan
- Kaiju No. 8
While it’s common for anime adaptations to boost manga sales, the jump in Dan Da Dan’s popularity is exceptional, solidifying Yukinobu Tatsu’s place among the most popular creators in the industry.
The second season of Dan Da Dan
Although the first season of Dan Da Dan has recently concluded, fans won’t have to wait long for the continuation of Momo Ayase and Okarun’s story. The second season is set to premiere in July 2025, just six months away, bringing the next arcs and developments.
It’s important to note that since the manga is still ongoing, it’s unclear whether the author, Yukinobu Tatsu, will choose to extend the storyline further to capitalize on its growing popularity or if the plot will stay “untouched” despite the impressive sales success it’s currently experiencing.
