Generally, every anime character who has gone through various conflicts from the beginning to the last episode will have a happy ending. However, several anime stories are the opposite of anime in general, in which the characters instead succumb to endings that are full of suffering and sadness that are so painful.

Tsukasa Mizukagi is the main character in the anime Plastic Memories. Mizukagi works for a Giftia creator company called SAI Corp. Giftia a robot with a form like a human and has thoughts and emotions like an actual human. What distinguishes between a robot named Giftia and Humans is that Giftria can only live for 81000 hours.

After time runs out, Giftia will usually become evil. Mizukagi, tasked with capturing Giftia, who has run out of time, instead falls in love with a Giftia named Isla.

Even though Mizukagi and Isla fall in love and care for each other, in the end, Mizukagi has to catch Isla, so she doesn’t become evil.

Kousei Arima is the main character in the anime Your Lie in April; he is a pianist who always experiences bad luck, and his loved ones always leave him. Even since his mother died, he could no longer hear the piano’s sound.

One day a person named Kaori Miyazono appears in Kousei Arima’s life; he invites Arima to play the pianist again. However, after Kaori and Arima were often together, it was realized that Kaori also had a disease that could not be cured. This makes Arima again lose the person he loves.

The anime Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day tells the story of friendship from childhood to adolescence which eventually had to be disbanded because one of their childhood friends named Menma died. Jinta, who is depressed due to the death of his childhood friend Menma, makes him not want to be friends with anyone at all, so he focuses on the game room.

One summer day, Jinta is visited by Menma’s spirit. At the end of the story, Jinta and their friends manage to grant Menma’s last wish, which makes Jinta and his friends have to accept Menma’s departure.
