Marvel Studios’ Daredevil: Born Again just had an unexpected moment that accidentally revealed Muse’s true identity.
The show isn’t pulling any punches regarding villains, with Vincent D’Onofrio returning as Wilson Fisk in his biggest role since the Defenders Saga. However, one of the most fascinating new threats is Muse—a masked graffiti artist with a disturbing habit of turning his serial crimes into art.
With only four episodes out so far, Daredevil: Born Again still has plenty of mysteries to unravel, especially regarding Matt Murdock’s challenges in New York City. However, a key detail about Muse’s storyline may have just been uncovered—something that’s sure to get fans talking as the series continues.
Who Is Muse? Daredevil: Born Again Episode 4 Villain Explained
Warning: this article contains spoilers for Daredevil: Born Again Episode 4.
The final moments of Daredevil: Born Again Episode 4 gave fans their clearest look yet at Muse, the newest MCU villain. First confirmed to be in the series back in August 2024,

Muse finally got real screen time in the episode’s closing scene, where he was seen carrying a captive back to what appears to be his lair near a train track. In a chilling sequence, he begins draining blood from his victims as they scream in terror before the camera cuts to a menacing shot of him in his mask.

The episode’s credits make this reveal even more intriguing, which list Wednesday star Hunter Doohan as a guest star. Doohan previously appeared in Episode 2 as a character named Bastian, who was seen interacting with Heather Glenn and expressing admiration for her.
However, while his name appears in the credits for Episode 4, he doesn’t show up on screen—at least, not in a recognizable way. This strongly suggests that Doohan is the actor behind Muse, a twist Marvel Studios likely intended to keep under wraps.
What To Expect From Muse in Daredevil: Born Again
In Marvel Comics, Muse is portrayed as a twisted artist with unique abilities, including imperceptibility, strength, and speed. His imperceptibility makes him a particularly dangerous foe for Matt Murdock, whose heightened senses usually give him an edge over most adversaries.
Interestingly, Muse played a role in Wilson Fisk’s rise to power as Mayor of New York—a storyline that Daredevil: Born Again has already set in motion. In the comics, Muse escapes from prison, killing a dozen correction officers before returning to create gruesome murals using the blood of his victims. Inspired by Daredevil’s pursuit of justice, he continues his macabre artwork while framing the Punisher for his crimes.
While Muse’s presence in the show has been minimal so far, elements of his comic arc appear to be making their way into Born Again. As he gets more screen time, his character will likely be further developed—setting the stage for Daredevil to suit up again and take back his city.
