Daredevil has always been one of Marvel’s most solitary and intense heroes—so much so that he’s often compared to Batman. As the guardian of Hell’s Kitchen, Matt Murdock typically works alone, avoiding alliances with other superheroes. However, in a 2022 comic, he revealed the one hero he trusts the most.
Spoilers for Daredevil #1 (2022) ahead!
In the 2022 relaunch of Daredevil #1, Murdock faces a major shift in his life. Alongside Elektra, he goes on a global mission to take down The Hand, which is now under The Punisher’s command. This means leaving behind Hell’s Kitchen and even New York.
Before leaving, Daredevil entrusts the protection of his beloved city to Spider-Man, revealing his secret identity to Peter Parker. He expresses his deep respect and trust for him, calling Parker “one of the only people I can trust with my life.”
Spider-Man’s response is both heartfelt and cautious. While he tells Murdock he loves him, he chooses not to reveal his own secret identity in return. However, Daredevil, with his heightened senses, likely already knows—his ability to read heartbeats and other vital signs helps him recognize people without needing to see them.
The story ends with Daredevil and Spider-Man fighting side by side one last time before Murdock leaves New York, confident that Hell’s Kitchen is in good hands.
