Demon Slayer premiered its second season last year and was the most-watched anime on Japanese TV in 2022.

The anime averaged 18.4 million viewers per episode, with peak ratings in the final two episodes, which recorded over 25 million viewers.

The beginning of the third season is being shown especially in Japanese theaters, preparing fans for the anime’s official return in April.

Set in Japan during the Taishō Period (1912-1926), the story revolves around Tanjirō Kamado, a kind, intelligent boy who lives with his mother and siblings, making money by selling coal, just like his late father.

One day, when Tanjirō returns home after going to a town to sell coal, he discovers that onis have attacked his entire family, and one of his sisters, Nezuko, is the only one who survived the attack. Nezuko then becomes an oni but surprisingly still shows signs of human emotions and thoughts.

Tanjirō decides to become an oni hunter. With Nezuko’s help, he goes on journeys throughout Japan to prevent the same tragedy that affected his family from happening to other people. At the same time, he searches for a way to make Nezuko human again.
