Following the release of the first trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Marvel fans have been vocal about one major change—the recasting of Mister Fantastic.

Fans Still Hoping for John Krasinski
A discussion on r/Marvel reveals mixed reactions to Pedro Pascal’s casting. While many are excited about his portrayal, others are disappointed that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness star John Krasinski isn’t reprising the role.
Reddit user xdrkcldx shared:
“No. He’s struggling to hide the accent. But I like Pedro, so I want to watch the movie and see how he does with more action and lines. Still wish they kept John Krasinski.”
Another fan, bingbongsingalong420, added:
“He’s gonna be great, and that was never in question. I was just really disappointed that John Krasinski is not reprising the role. That’s all so many fans wanted.”
While Krasinski had long been a fan-favorite choice for Mister Fantastic, Marvel’s decision to go with Pascal signals a fresh direction for the character.
Could Krasinski Return as a Variant?
With the multiverse playing such a major role in the MCU, there’s always the possibility that Krasinski could return—perhaps as an alternate version of Reed Richards or even the villainous Maker.
Of course, many fans have also suggested Miles Teller (who played Reed in Fantastic Four (2015)) as a perfect fit for The Maker if Marvel goes that route.
What’s Next?
While Pascal’s take on Mister Fantastic remains to be seen, fans can only hope the film delivers a worthy adaptation of Marvel’s first family. And who knows—maybe Avengers: Doomsday will surprise us all with a multiversal reunion.
