The second season of the acclaimed TV adaptation of the video game “The Last of Us” is adding more actors to its cast. Set to premiere on Max in early 2025, the new episodes will feature not only Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey as the main characters but also Jeffrey Wright, who was nominated for an Oscar for his role in “American Fiction” and is no stranger to the franchise.
TV Line reports that Wright, who voiced a character in the video game “The Last of Us Part II,” is one of the big names joining the second season. Fans of the post-apocalyptic series will be thrilled to learn that the actor from “Westworld,” “The Batman,” and “Angels in America” will play Isaac Dixon, the same character he portrayed in the second part of the PlayStation game.
Isaac Dixon is the quiet leader of the Washington Liberation Front, also known as the Wolves. This large militia group initially aimed to gain freedom and end FEDRA’s control over the US capital. However, after driving out the military forces that ruled the city, the Wolves broke their promise of liberation.
They forced all citizens to join their militia, governing the city with an iron fist. Recently, Isaac and his followers have been engaged in a never-ending war against a surprisingly clever enemy called the Seraphites.
So far, the TV series has generally stayed true to the video game. The second season will adapt the game’s second part, released in 2020. In the video game’s Part II, Joel dies, so it remains to be seen whether the adaptation will break from the original story to keep its star, Pedro Pascal, or stay faithful to the game and let go of the character.
Along with Wright, the cast for the second season includes Bella Ramsey as Ellie, Pedro Pascal as Joel, Gabriel Luna as Tommy, Wesley Routine as Maria, Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Isabella Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, Danny Ramirez as Manny, and Catherine O’Hara in an undisclosed guest role.
