The new season of House of the Dragon is heating up! As the story goes on, we’re seeing more and more of those cool dragons and the people who ride them. Both sides are catching their breath after the big fight and trying to prepare for the next one.
Rhaenyra, one of the main characters, is looking for new dragon riders to help her out. She didn’t expect it to happen this way, but it looks like her plan might be working. It’s funny how things turn out sometimes, right?
In this world, you usually need to have special blood to ride a dragon-like being related to the Targaryens or Velaryons. Rhaenyra thought this was super important, so she checked if one of her guards, Steffon Darklyn, had the right family background. She wanted him to try riding a dragon called Mist, which used to belong to her ex-husband, Laenor.
But things didn’t go well at all. The dragon burned Poor Steffon, and Rhaenyra felt pretty bad about it. She decided maybe this wasn’t such a good idea after all.
But here’s the weird thing – Mist didn’t want to stay put. The dragon flew off to look for someone else. In the last episode, we saw Mist flying around Driftmark, where Corlys Velaryon’s son Addam lives.
Now, in the newest episode, something big happens. Addam’s just working on the beach when Mist shows up and starts bugging him. Addam freaks out and tries to run away, but the dragon corners him. We don’t get to see what happens next, which is a real cliffhanger!
Later on, Rhaenyra hears that someone spotted one of the riderless dragons with a person on its back. She thinks it might be her enemies, but it’s probably Addam and Mist. Looks like they might have become friends after all!
It’s pretty exciting stuff, and I can’t wait to see what happens next!
Can Anyone Other Than Targaryen Ride A Dragon?
It’s a tricky question, but it looks like the answer might be yes!
In the show, Jacaerys talks about some old stories from Valyria. But he says these stories might just be made up to make the dragon riders look special. So maybe you don’t really need Targaryen blood to ride a dragon after all.
Now, let’s talk about Addam. He’s not a Targaryen, but he might be able to ride a dragon because he’s a Velaryon. The Velaryons come from the same place as the Targaryens – a place called Old Valyria. In fact, in the books, the Velaryons came to Westeros even before the Targaryens did!
The Velaryons weren’t known for riding dragons, but they did marry Targaryens a lot. So Addam might have some dragon-riding blood in him from way back.
But here’s another idea: maybe the dragon, Mist, just chose Addam herself. In the show, we see Mist flying around looking sad after Laenor (her old rider) left. Rhaenyra thinks Mist misses Laenor, but Mysaria suggests the dragon might just be lonely.
Addam is supposed to be a good guy, just like his half-brother Laenor. So maybe Mist saw something in Addam that reminded her of Laenor, and decided she wanted him as her new rider.
So, to sum up: while being a Targaryen might help, it looks like other people can ride dragons too. It might depend on your family history, or even on whether the dragon likes you!
Which Side Will Addam And Bruma Join?
It looks like they’ll be on Rhaenyra’s side!
In the show, we learn that Corlys has two kids with his girlfriend – Addam and Alys. Addam really wants his dad to notice him. He even gets mad at his sister when she doesn’t want to take charge of one of their dad’s ships.
Even though we haven’t seen Corlys and Addam talk much, Addam is still working for the Velaryon family. And since the Velaryons are on Rhaenyra’s team, it makes sense that Addam would be too.
If we look at the book the show is based on, called “Fire and Blood,” it tells us that Addam and Mist do join Rhaenyra’s side. They even do some pretty important stuff in the big war that’s coming up.
So, it looks like Rhaenyra’s plan to get more dragon riders is starting to work out! Addam and Mist will probably be a big help to her team.
Remember, though, that TV shows sometimes change things from books. But for now, it seems like Addam and Mist will be fighting for Rhaenyra.
