The Punisher has officially arrived in the MCU with his debut in Daredevil: Born Again, and Marvel Studios is celebrating the moment with a brand-new poster.

After more than six years since his last appearance in The Punisher Season 2, Jon Bernthal returns as Frank Castle in Born Again Episode 4, titled “Sic Semper Systema.”

The Punisher Gets New Poster for Daredevil: Born Again

Marvel Studios celebrates The Punisher’s return to the MCU with his first official poster under their banner. While Frank Castle debuted in Daredevil: Born Again sporting a rugged, bushy beard, the poster showcases him clean-shaven and wearing his iconic Punisher skull logo—hinting that his classic look will soon return.

Jon Bernthal’s Punisher has been featured on posters before during his time with Netflix and Marvel Television, but this marks his first since officially joining the MCU. Castle first appeared in Daredevil Season 2 as a violent contrast to Matt Murdock, using deadly force to eliminate criminals.

That season followed his relentless quest to avenge his family’s murder, culminating in the brutal takedown of those responsible. His actions even landed him in court, with Matt Murdock representing him in a legal battle that highlighted their conflicting views on justice.

Bernthal’s portrayal quickly became a fan favorite, leading to The Punisher spin-off series with the tagline “The Truth Must Be Taken.” The Netflix series expanded on Frank’s story, revealing a military conspiracy behind his family’s deaths and cementing his transformation into The Punisher. The show ran for two seasons, with its second premiering in early 2019 as one of the final entries in Netflix’s Defenders Saga.

Following a long absence, Bernthal’s return in Born Again marks the character’s first appearance in years. And this is just the beginning—fans can expect to see more of him in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 and a special Disney+ Presentation set for 2026.

What Comes Next for The Punisher in the MCU

In Daredevil: Born Again, Matt Murdock tracks down a rugged Frank Castle at his New York hideout, seeking help after discovering that the bullet used to kill Hector Ayala (White Tiger) was marked with a Punisher logo. However, Frank quickly dismisses the idea that he is responsible, blaming “bulls*** fanboys” instead.

While Castle isn’t immediately on board with Daredevil’s mission to stop the corrupt cops using his branding, he’ll eventually join the fight. Quick glimpses in a Disney+ promo and set photos have already teased The Punisher back in action—some even show him standing alongside a fully suited-up Daredevil in the streets.

Following his role in Born Again, Jon Bernthal is confirmed to reprise his character twice next year: in Season 2 and a Disney+ Special Presentation, which he will co-write with King Richard director Reinaldo Marcus Green.

The special could bridge the gap between seasons or occur afterward, diving deeper into Frank’s battle against the corrupt officers impersonating him—or even setting up a showdown with Bullseye, the rumored killer of Foggy Nelson.

As for his long-term MCU future, it’s unlikely that The Punisher will join the Avengers for Doomsday or Secret Wars, but he’s set to remain a major force in the street-level Marvel stories. He’ll likely continue aiding Daredevil and other vigilantes in taking down Mayor Wilson Fisk.

If his Disney+ special performs well, it could even pave the way for a Punisher revival as a new series or as a John Wick-style, R-rated action film set in the MCU.
