On Friday (18), Nintendo announced that the price of the upcoming Switch 2 will remain unchanged in the U.S. market. The console will launch at $449.99, with pre-orders now set to open on April 24, after being pushed back from the original April 9 date.
As expected, the standard version of the Switch 2 will be priced at $449.99, while a bundle that includes Mario Kart World will cost $499.99. These prices apply to the U.S. only.
However, while the console’s price remains stable, the same won’t be true for its accessories. In a press release, Nintendo explained that U.S. tariffs and shifting market conditions are behind raising accessory prices.
“Nintendo Switch 2 accessories will see price adjustments compared to what was announced on April 2, due to changing market conditions. Future price changes to other Nintendo products are also possible, depending on those factors,” the company stated.
So, what does that mean in practical terms? At launch, the Switch 2 and its games will cost what was initially announced. However, those prices may not hold for long. Despite having some manufacturing in Vietnam, a significant portion of Nintendo’s production still happens in China, a country at the center of ongoing U.S. trade tensions.
Launch of Nintendo Switch 2
Despite the uncertainties surrounding tariffs and pricing adjustments, Nintendo remains firm on the launch date for the Switch 2. The console will arrive in the United States and other regions on June 5, 2025.
While the U.S. pricing has been confirmed—ranging from $449.99 to $499.99, depending on the edition—Nintendo has yet to reveal how much the hybrid console will cost in other markets, including ours.
