Non-Non Biyori is a slice-of-life anime that follows the daily lives of five girls in rural Japan. The show starts with Hotaru, the youngest girl at age 9, who moves into her grandparents’ house after she loses both parents to an accident.
She soon meets four other girls her age – Natsumi, Komari, Renge, and Suguru – all living in the same area as Hotaru’s grandparents’ place.
A series of comedic events ensue involving these five girls as they go about their day-to-day lives attending school together and coming home to do activities like cooking dinner for themselves or playing musical instruments around the kotatsu table.
