The highly anticipated anime series Senpai Is an Otokonoko (Senpai is a Crossdresser) has unveiled a new key visual, revealing the opening and ending theme songs. The series is scheduled to premiere on July 4th.

The talented musician Kujira, also known as Whale Don’t Sleep, will perform both the opening theme, “Wagamama,” and the ending theme, “Are ga Koi datta no kana.”

The animation production is being handled by Studio Project 9, with Shinsuke Yanagi directing. Yoriko Tomita is the series composer, while Shoto Shinkai does the character designs. Yukari Hashimoto is composing the music.

The anime is an adaptation of the manga series of the same name, written and illustrated by Pom. The manga was initially published digitally through Line Manga from 2019-2021 before being acquired by Ichijinsha, who has released 7 volumes so far with the 8th coming in April.

According to the English publisher Webtoon, the story follows a high school student who secretly cross-dresses at school after being mistaken for a girl on his first day.

Synopsis:

Can true love overcome any obstacles? Saki, a high school student, confesses her feelings to Makoto. Taken aback, Makoto reveals his secret, but the sudden discovery doesn’t seem to bother Saki who is already head over heels for him. After being rejected, Saki asks Ryuji, Makoto’s childhood friend, for advice on winning his heart. A love triangle unfolds when Ryuji realizes that he might also have some feelings for his old friend.
