Netflix has officially announced that the third and final season of its hit South Korean series “Squid Game” will premiere on June 27, 2025. The streaming platform recently revealed first-look photos of the highly anticipated conclusion to the survival drama series.

Created and directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk, the series will continue to follow the story of contestants participating in deadly children’s games for a substantial cash prize. Lead actor Lee Jung-Jae returns to the series, with the new season addressing the aftermath of a significant betrayal from the previous season’s finale. Series regulars Park Hae-soo and Wi Ha-joon are also set to reprise their roles.

The show first premiered in 2021 and garnered worldwide acclaim for its intense portrayal of economic desperation. The original narrative followed 456 financially struggling individuals who risked their lives in a series of lethal competitions based on traditional children’s games. Creator Hwang Dong-hyuk’s personal experiences inspired the story with financial hardship.

The upcoming season is expected to delve deeper into the mysteries surrounding the organization behind the games, including the identities of the masked figures who oversee the competitions. Following Season 2’s cliffhanger ending, viewers anticipate a resolution to several outstanding plot threads.

Han Heung-seok and Kim Ji-eun produce the series under Siren Pictures Inc. “Squid Game” remains one of Netflix’s most successful international productions, having established itself as a global phenomenon since its debut.
