The highly anticipated Stranger Things season 5 will mark the final chapter of the beloved Netflix series. In the previous season, viewers were introduced to the terrifying villain Vecna/Henry Creel, brilliantly portrayed by Jamie Campbell Bower.
As filming for the fifth installment is underway in Atlanta, new set photos have sparked excitement about the character’s potential return.

The online images show Bower dressed in a suit, tie, and hat, seemingly at Vecna/Henry’s childhood home. This intriguing sight has fueled speculation that the villainous character might somehow regain his human form and venture back into the real world after being trapped in the Upside Down for years. However, it’s also possible that these scenes could be flashbacks or dream sequences.
Joining Bower on set is newcomer Nell Fisher, who will be part of the cast for season 5. With the final season set to feature a time jump, some fans believe that Fisher could be portraying Holly, the younger sister of Nancy and Mike, suggesting that the scenes might not be focused on Vecna’s past.
In season 4, it was revealed that Henry Creel was the first child under the care of the enigmatic Dr. Brenner. After using his psychic abilities to murder his mother and sister tragically, Henry embarked on a killing spree, manipulating Eleven to help unlock his full powers.
Ultimately, Eleven unintentionally sent him to the Upside Down World, where he became disfigured and transformed into the fearsome Vecna.
Vecna’s plans to destroy Hawkins were thwarted in the season 4 finale by Eleven and Nancy’s group, but his story is far from over. As we eagerly await the return of Stranger Things in 2025, Netflix has treated fans to a prequel in the form of a play titled “Stranger Things:
The First Shadow,” which explores Henry Creel’s arrival in Hawkins in 1959. The play premiered on December 14, 2023, at the Phoenix Theater in London and is set to run until 2025, offering a tantalizing glimpse into the origins of this enigmatic character.
