In the anime “Kimetsu no Yaiba,” the Demon Slayer Corps is an ancient organization dedicated to protecting humans from demons.
Although it has hundreds of members, the government does not officially recognize it. The organization’s primary objective is to track Muzan Kibutsuji and the demon he created.
How to Become a Demon Slayer Corps
One must pass the Final Selection to become a Demon Slayer in Kimetsu no Yaiba anime. This grueling test requires examinees to survive seven days on a demon-infested mountaintop without any external aid.
Those who pass the Final Selection are granted a standard uniform and can choose ores to create their unique swords, which are highly effective in demon extermination.
In addition, every new Demon Slayer is provided with a species of talking bird for communication purposes.
The members of the Demon Slayer Corps are separated into ten different ranks. From lowest to highest rating, these ratings are:
- Mizunoto
- Mizunoe
- Kanoto
- canoe
- Tsuchinoto
- Tsuchinoe
- Shinoto
- Hinoe
- Kinoto
- Kinoe
Once accepted into the Demon Slayer Corps, new members start in the lowest rank, Mizunoto. To advance in rank, they must successfully fulfill different missions assigned to them.
Hashira in the Demon Slayer Corps
In the Demon Slayer Corps, a prestigious group called Hashira consists of nine of the organization’s most skilled and powerful combatants. They are considered the highest-ranking members of the Corps, second only to its leader. There are 12 Hashiras in total.
To become a Hashira, a Demon Slayer must meet specific eligibility criteria. They must successfully slay at most minuscule 50 demons or defeat one of the Kizuki Twelve, the most powerful group of demons who serve directly under Demon King Muzan Kibutsuji.
Origin of the Demon Slayer Corps

Kagaya Ubuyashiki in Kimetsu no Yaiba: Demon Slayer chapter 137 explains that Muzan Kibutsuji came from the same family as him about 1000 years ago.
Kagaya stated: “This caused the family bloodline to be cursed. Every child born in our family is weak and dies very soon. But the pastor gave us some advice when our family was about to be wiped out of existence. Demons come from our bloodline.”
Kagaya continued: “So you must dedicate your souls to defeating him. And if you do, your family will not die. We have received wives from pastors for generations. And now our children are tougher to die. Even so, none of our family lived beyond thirty years.”
It is revealed that the Ubuyashiki family has been leading the battle against Muzan Kibutsuji for nearly 1000 years.
