A new millennium begins in the southern part of Denmark’s Jutland peninsula. After the death of his long-time enemy, Askeladd, Thorfinn has lost his purpose in life. He is bought by the landowner Ketil as a “slave” and engaged in land reclamation work on his farm. Thorfinn meets a young man, Einar, who shares a similar situation.

Einar’s encounter led Thorfinn to face the sins he had committed, so he began finding new meaning in life. On the other hand, Canute, who became the King of England, tried to extend his territory to establish the promised land. This is ‘The Story of a True Warrior (Saga)’ and ‘The Story of Atonement and Salvation (Saga),’ which is beyond the prologue.

Shūhei Yabuta (Inuyashiki’s Last Hero) is the director, with Hiroshi Seko (Banana Fish) and Kenta Ihara (Saga of Tanya the Evil) responsible for the script.

Takahiko Abiru (Hunter × Hunter) is in charge of the visuals for the characters, while Yutaka Yamada (Tokyo Ghoul) composes the soundtrack.

Vinland Saga Synopsis:

Vinland Saga is a creation by Makoto Yukimura and takes place in the year 1013, where we follow Thorfinn’s journey for revenge. He works for Askeladd, but his plans are to one day challenge the Viking to a duel and finally kill him, thus bringing justice against the man who killed his father.

Raised by the Vikings who destroyed part of his life, Thorfinn has become a terrifying warrior, always seeking to kill the band leader to complete his revenge. The man stands his ground through all the hardships, drawing strength from his pride and his dream of taking his family to a fertile land in the West, a land without war or slavery called Vinland.
