It looks like the price of Xbox Game Pass may be going up soon, based on changes spotted in the Microsoft Rewards program.
Reddit user Conflict_NZ recently pointed out on the r/Xbox subreddit that the cost of redeeming Xbox Game Pass Ultimate through Microsoft Rewards has increased significantly.
“Auto-redeem for Game Pass Ultimate has been unavailable for a while. In the last few hours, it just returned with a much higher cost,” they noted. “A month of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is now 17,000 points instead of 12,000, and PC Game Pass has jumped to 10,500 from 7,500. One-time redemptions are still available at the old values, but probably not for long—so if you have saved points, now might be the time to use them.”
For those unfamiliar, Microsoft Rewards allows players to earn points by purchasing games or completing challenges, which can be exchanged for perks like Game Pass subscriptions. If the points required for a month of Game Pass Ultimate have increased by 5,000, it suggests a potential price hike of around one-third in real money.
Currently, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate costs £14.99 per month in the UK, meaning it could soon rise to around £20 per month.
While there’s a possibility that Microsoft is only adjusting the Rewards program and not the actual subscription price, it’s wise to prepare for an official increase. If you’re sitting on unused Reward points, now might be the best time to redeem them.
